12v Mini Fridge
So,
If I leave my mini fridge plugged into the car ciggie lighter socket in the boot overnight, will I have a flat battery in the morning. SWMBO says yes, I say no. Settle this one please org. |
Re: 12v Mini Fridge
Depends if your ciggie lighter is wired into your ignition...?
If it is, it will isolate the supply to the fridge. If not, it won't, and yes you will have a flat battery |

The socket works without the keys being in it so I guess that means its not. If so that means warm beer on our camping trip this weekend:rolleyes: |
Re: 12v Mini Fridge
Correct...
I've got a 12v fridge, and to be honest I don't find that it chills things well at all. When I go camping I tend to use a big coolbox, and use 1 litre bottles of water / ice which have been in the freezer for a couple of days - I find that this stays cool enough for a couple of nights... |

Re: 12v Mini Fridge
If you have not got the one that automatically cuts out if the battery voltage gets low to save the battery for starting the car, then I'd suggest it probably will flatten the battery. They are really designed to be used whilst the engine is running.
The fridge that I have is very good at keeping stuff that is already cold cold. It is not very good a chilling stuff that is not already cold. We pack ice at the bottom, what ever on top of that, and then ice on top of that. It kept the beers cold for the duration of the AR08. |

Yeah, I think we are going with the frozen water bottles in a cool box. Its only for 2 days anyways so I'm sure I can survive:cool:

Re: 12v Mini Fridge
Just make sure everything is pre-chilled before going in.

Re: 12v Mini Fridge
Most of the coolers are just to keep it cool for the journey, not to chill it. So maybe freeze some stuff and stick it in there with the beer?
