whats the best
what is the best or some of the best helmets out there wanna spend £70 - £200 :)

Re: whats the best
The best helmet is one that fits you properly. A £50 helmet that fits you will give better protection than a £500 helmet that doesnt fit.
Go to a bikeshop and try some different makes on and see how you get on. In your price range the Shoei Raid II always seems to come up well in tests. So thats what I'd be looking at if I was you. |
Re: whats the best
I've just bought a Shoei XR1000 for 210 brand new. No suggestions will beat going to a shop and trying on all the different types of helmets.

Re: whats the best
It doesn't matter what the cost is. It is the one that fits you best for the money you can afford. :D
Go to the bike shop try them all on if you have to. If the one that fits you the best is out of your budget, find the next best fitting one that is in your budget. After all it protects your head you don't want to get it wrong!!! ;) |

Re: whats the best
I have a Shoei XR1000 it was the only one at the time I could find to fit - XXS. Some advertise online saying that they sell them that small and the design is just what you want but in reality they don't always .
I would do what Lily says, the best thing is to try them on and find out what is comfortable for your head. Find your correct size as one make may fit you differently to the next. What might fit you in a size S in a Shoei doesn't necessarily mean an S will fit you in an Arai you may need an XS or an M. If you want to buy on line then try the one you want first before you do. Good luck :D |
Re: whats the best
In that price range the HJC FG-15 is probably the best bet, £150 and Sharp 4* helmet( more * than a lot of the cheaper Arai and Shoei got)
But as others have said go try lots on, a good one is one that fits properly. |

I have had a nitro helmet which was great for such a cheap lid, and very quiet too, DD ring clasp too. I have a shark S800 butterfly helmet, which i find ok, a bit noisy compared to the old nitro, but comfy, and everyone who hasn't seen one asks if it was a custom design:confused: unfortunatley I've just bashed me bonce down the road in it, and now I need another. I'm going for another Shark as they have had very good results in a recent test compared to some of these drastically expensive ones...only thing I don't like is the anti-fog visor don't work, the UV filter does( bad for my react to light specs) and the coating over it seems to rub off and leave a dull patch right in your line of sight. But I've got plenty of spares. ANDDDDD I'm pretty sure that the new shark helmets come with the sun visor thingy as standard. |
