Recommend me a chain and sprockets -yet again.
Chain and Sprocket set please!
Thinking about the Tsubaki chain with Renthal sprockets from IntoBikes website. Anyone know if that's overkill or better options? Cheers |
Re: Recommend me a.........
bandcexpress.co.uk and get tsubaki chain and JT sprockets
|
Re: Recommend me a.........
Cheers Chris, will have a look.

Re: Recommend me a.........
As Chris said.
I bought a gold X ring chain, JT front and rear steel sprockets for B & C - was £106 inc delivery. |
Re: Recommend me a.........
definitely get the JT sprockets not the renthal. HAd a renthal hard anodised rear sprocket before and it wore out pretty quickly compared to a steel one

............. ........... ...................... ........ .... ................... .. Have been given good advice to avoid Renthal sprockets - the alloy ones are race only, they'll prematurely wear your chain - that has been my experience. Now have an AFAM kit... but I guess it's all much of a muchness, they do the same job. Get a scottoiler, and stop thinking that anythign else will make a big difference, it won't. |

Re: Recommend me a.........
yeah, got a scott oiler. Managed 14.5k out of the original chain.
Not sure if that's poor, average or good? Kept it adjusted pretty well. Noted... STEEL sprockets :) Thanks for the pointers folks |
Re: Recommend me a.........
That's pretty poor Cam :) But it does depend on riding conditions and riding style. I got the same out of my last renthal-and-tsubaki set (ally sprocket) despite the extra power the bike has, but it got pretty well looked after. It was neglect that killed it in the end. My OEM chain did 25000 and still has a fair bit of life left in it, it's in the box as a spare.
Steel makes miles more sense than ally, on the road. Though having said that, with that last set the steel front sprocket was wearing at about the same rate as the aluminium rear. Oh yeah... Renthal, and some others, have pretty effective hard anodising on them. An unhardened alloy sprocket wears much faster, and isn't much cheaper, very false economy. |
