Shark helmets - inner sun visors?

I'm looking at helmets at the mo because the instructor said he heard mine go down the other day so I should really get a new one. There are some scratches on it, but other than that it looks ok. But I'll take his word for it since I don't remember anything except my foot in a lot of pain lol!

I've got my eye on the Shark S800 butterfly (in white) and it comes with the "optional inner sun visor" which I'm tempted with to save me getting a seperate tinted visor. However, hubby said that he's sure that the sun visor part is on the outside of the clear visor and not the inside...does anyone know if that's right or not? He said he knows one guy with a helmet with an external sun visor and finds that it pulls on his helmet when he's going at any decent speed.

Cheers

I've just bought a Nolan 103 which is flip front and has a good inner sunvisor, paid £220 and got Oxford helmet bag and neck warmers free. Other Nolan helmets have inner sunvisor but i was especially after a flip front. Last year's Nolans e.g. 102 have external visors, much more clunky and less good looking. Www.sounddistribution.co.uk gave me the best price. Dunno much about Shark helmets, but thought this info might be useful.

i love the idea of the inner sun viser thing and i tried one on the other day, but it felt like a bucket........ i think it was hhj?

i know sharks do a OUTER tinted viser, which flips down pretty much as the normal one, a gtear idea, but the clips can be a bit flimsy

I've got the shark butterfly in white and the sun visor is on the outside and slides over the white visor.

The only problem i find with it is that if the wind is to much the sun visor if on will be forced down with the wind. Which can be a problem when it goes dark and you can't fully see (happened last week) But it is much easier when riding to drop the sun visor than a internal one as there is no button you just knock it down like a normal visor.

Me got one too (not the butterfly design), but off to get a new helmet today.

My problem is that my chin is not covered by the bottom of the helmet (Jimmy Hill type chin you see) and as I commute when it is chilly it is quite unbearable. For the money it is a brill helmet though. As Lily has said her visor pops down at "Speed", mine doesn't however so it must be just luck of the draw.

My suggestion, as with all helmets, its the fit that is important. Try one on, check that it fits you well etc.

Thanks for all the info :D I've ordered the butterfly helmet with the sun visor...I think it's more straightforward than having another visor and changing them round etc. Just need to wait patiently for it to arrive now!! :smt026

A lot of them do this as its just a additional outer bit to add to the helmet rather then change the whole design.

I'm changing my butterfly helmet. Tooo many chicks have one now....lol;-). I'm going to have another girly one but not telling what, but I can have one of them sun visor jobs with it. I didn't see the point of buying one as I've got 2 clear ones that naffed, and a black one that is fine.

Watch out for the clear ones coatings 'lifting' you knida get a splodge in the middle of your eye line where you rub rain off with your gloves, it seems to blur it...but not all over which is strange

Agreed, Schuberth are great, as well as being comfy and quiet.

You can get bargains if you shop around - mine was £199 from Infinity (and beyond). Probably last year's model, but for that money I don't care. the only real drawback is the clasp, I'd have preferred one of those quick release clips instead of the double D ring.
