Badminton

I have got into playing a spot of badminton recently ... quite enjoy it ... any other .org members like ruffling feathers with a bat?!!? :)

I wish I knew which side I was supposed to be serving from ... it all sees a bit random (on the initial serve once it is my turn) ... I just tend to go the opposite side to the opponent as the people I play play regularly and know what they are doing!! :D

Badminton is easy*, tennis is really REALLY hard!!

*i.e. you can pick up a racquet and play pretty much out of the box, obviously to become 'proper good' takes skill and dedication. Conversely tennis is ruddy hard to simply return the ball (in bounds/not into the net) let alone give a game!! :D

I could 'make a game' first time I picked up a badminton racquet, a squash racquet, a softball racquet etc etc, but tennis ... not a chance, even being 'fed' the ball, 1 in 5 shots are actually returned in bounds/over the net!!! :D ... as I said, that is being 'fed' the ball .. so we are not even playing yet ....

:D

dunno about that, but to be honest from the outside, I think it is prolly the gheyest of all popular racquet sports!! ;)

Before I played it, I figured it was for steers and queers and people that couldn't hack the pace/power of squash!!!! :D

Now I think it is quite good fun ... especially if you like 'mincing' about whilst you lunge for a shot!!

if you ever get to play squash make sure you play somebody of similar level to you. if you play a game against somebody who's played many times we may as well arrange your memorial service now!! you will die of exhaustion..!
