I'm sorry what....??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7608280.stm

to pick up a leathal weppon which you have not checked is unloaded, point it at a colleagues head and pull the trigger... and to get 16 months in a detention centre...

the world has truly gone mad...murder is frowned upon and justice ocasionally previals but to be ignorant and stupid is accepted and slapped on the wrist...

ignorance is never an excuse..

True, but that's why he was found guilty. As for the sentance, well if truely remorseful, which I see no reason why he isn't, then the greatest punishment will be living with what he's done. In which case I don't see what good locking him up for longer will do.

Save long prison sentances for people who are likely to reoffend.

I think the fella will have a harder time in the Glass-House for 16-months than a HM prison for 4years. Apart from that agree completely with the flamin squirrel.

Two sides to this IMO. One the one hand it was pretty stupid* to point a weapon and shoot at your mate. On the other hand, according to the story, he obviously didn't mean to do it.

I actually think it's just as bad that the guy that left it loaded only got an £850 fine.

Anyone with any common sense in the Military and especially out on Operations should know not to point a weapon of any kind at anyone in jest let alone pull the trigger in doing so. Weapon handling safety is paramount and taught to everyone in the military.

Yes the poor guy who was shot dead was sleeping and killed just because someone wanted to play at being a sniper
