Half a day soent repairing bike...
Well i finally managed to spend some time at my pops house where the Sv was taken whilst I lay in the hoss-piddle.
Replaced both Grips (not easy with broken ribs), RHS brake lever and bar end. That has fixed up the handlebars. Removed the stickers that the previous owner had adorned the bike with (must say, looks classier now) Took off rearset hangers to tidy up (they had been sprayed black), threw RHS one in bin and ordered a new one as it was bent in a complex way and could not be salvaged. Replaced the rear indicators with some LED tip ones, but only one seems to flash, so i'm guessing that I need a new relay (anyone know where to get a cheap one? My local bike shop sells them for £15 each) Today I picked up a top fairing ( in the right colour) with slide damage to one edge, it's not too bad, but needs building up a little with some filler before going to the paint shop with the side fairing. I have ordered some Plastex, which I think is like the liquid polymer that is used to repair fairings. Does anyone know of anything else that could be used as it really is a slap it on and sand down a new edge with a block type job i think? Was thinking about Plastic Padding Ultima (like a plastic metal) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...tegoryrn_70054 I also noticed that I have scratched the RHS mirror. I have two options here, replace with new carbon look ones (ending soon on ebay), or have a repair done to the plastic and colour coded. Not sure which would look best? Anyone got any thoughts? (i'm swaying towards carbon look, but i'm rapidly running out of pennies I think!) Oh, and my battery is f*cked! Won't hold a charge and won't start the bike 3 times in a row after a charge. |
Re: Half a day soent repairing bike...
I think colour coded mirror would be a bit odd/tacky looking but up 2 you really if it were me i would probley go the for carbon look ones or orignal.

Yep, that's kind of what I thought.
Just bought some Carbon. Pushing the running total of parts for repair to about £305 so far. Just need some new bungs and a few licks of paint. Oh, and a new can! |
