Mother of all punctures!
Well I knew it wasnt long before I got silly on my new Ninja and nearly crashed, however it actually want my fault.
I was called into work this morning, so I thought why ruin a perfectly sunny day, make the most of the 20 mile drive in and take the bike. I was about 2 miles into the ride when suddenly a felt the rear end drop and the bike started shimmying violently from side to side. I managed to haul it up and took a closer look..... My rear tyre was flat as a pankake with a wood screw sticking out. Now I've had nails, screws and tacs go into my tyres in the past and at worst it causes a really slow puncture! This was mental, it just tore its way in and let all the air out! Brilliant. What a crud day. Had to call the Mrs... then work and explain. My mrs came and found me and escorted me back to the house doing 10 mph all the way! Scary stuff! |
Re: Mother of all punctures!
I've ridden like that on tyres in the past, and it aint nice.
TyreWeld Bungs. Marvellous. The guy that designed the puncture repair kit deserves a pint - quick, someone buy him one! Basically, pull the screw/nail/sharp impliment out, bung goes in with some rubber glue, compresed gas canister supplied goes on the vavle, bish bash bosh. Job jobbed. |
Re: Mother of all punctures!
nono you want ultraseal. Well worth it especially on an expensive beast like the sv.

Re: Mother of all punctures!
IMO ultraseal won't stop a blowout, they're generally not caused by punctures. If you run over say a length of steel that rips right through the carcass, some goo isn't going to keep the tyre together, never mind keep the air in.
Also the SV is no way an expensive beast! |
