Do the DVLA give out keeper details to parking firms?
Recieved a ticket on my company van for parking in a barriered private car park only the barrier was smashed off last weekend (been parking their for weeks as I know the code to the barrier as my company service the lifts).
It's from a company called National Parking Control (Run by a Chinese bloke from Manchester so the domain register says) that are a private company and only issue tickets. What I want to know is can they get the registered keeper details from the DVLA? I know I don't have to pay the ticket as it's only a civil offence and the company has no way of making me pay other than taking me to a civil court. However my company will pay the ticket the minute they recieve the notice rather than fight it or refuse to pay, they will then deduct this froim my pay! I do have the company owners name and address if anyone wants to drop a turd through his letter box!!:D Regards Phil |
Re: Do the DVLA give out keeper details to parking firms?
yes
The DVLA will give details to registered parking firms. These companies are now employed by the likes of ASDA/Tesco etc to extort parking fees if you outstay your welcome, return within a certain time etc. |

You don't have to be a parking firm - the DVLA sells the data to any ltd company that requests it.

And it is not just car/owner information.
They will even sell driver information. My own employers signed up with an organisation that would administer the driving records of all uk employees. I refused to provide them with my licence number despite several letters from them and an instruction from our UK H&S manager who had implemented the service. Having raised the issue of IT security with my employers and they agreeing that until an audit had been performed we could not trust them. The licence company stated they abide by DVLA security requirements. But they failed our audit. We will not use them until they comply with our security and data handling requirement. Other companies are using them. ignorant of their poor data handling standards. Here is the lesson. Individuals are buying services from 3rd party companies that requires handling of personal data. The people commissioning these services are not IT literate, those operating the services are not complying with data protection law and everyone is ignorant of it until they get caught out |

Double crap!!!
I know I don't have to pay but my company will pay it for me then take the money off me, plus it'll be an inflated £125 rather than the £90 before 28 days or £60 for under 14 days. May have to get some people to pay the guy a visit and request that the ticket is dropped!! :-D |

Can't you ay that you had permission to park there, given that you service the lifts, have parked there on many previous occasions without payment or objection, and therefore that there's an established practice.

I've read in a few places that this company is a bit dodgy and doesn't accept any appeals. The ticket says to send full payment with any appeal but I know that once you pay you loose any right to appeal!
