hotgrips and optimate?

just fitted hot grips (oxford) and i noticed that the connector is the same as my optimate............

so is it ok to plug the optimate into the connecter for my hotgrips, the only differance i think is the grips have an inline fuse?

Is optimate wired directly to battery?

Are the + and - same way round?

If so, yes.

I'd guess yes but wait for someone with brains to plod along.
By the way, if they do turn out to be exactly the same I ouldn't buy one of them off you coul I? I've lost mine (or rather the ebayer I purchased it from did) so I have to use the croc clips so it doesn't get used too often.

Edit: ^^^ 'ta da'

I don't see why not, this is what I do with my Autocom when it is being used. As long as you remember to turn them off when you stop the bike, else your battery will soon be dead, as this is not a switched circuit from the ignition.

New style grips are supposed to cut out when engine's off. In reality they cut out when your hands are cold.

Where exactly is the fuse mate? From your original post it sounded like the fuse was between the Optimate connector and the hot-grips?
