Havens Got Talent
Hi all...
As some of you may(or may not)know i have 2 young sons,Callum 8 & luke 4.My eldest was born 6 weeks premature & only weighed 4ld3oz at birth. For the 1st few weeks of his life he was in an incubator in special care as he was so small/weak he was struggling to feed & put on weight. For his age he has always been the smallest in his class at school,he was a very shy/quiet boy who lacked a lot of self confidance as i think he got a bit overwhelmed by all the other kids being bigger than him( unlike my youngest who is quite big for his age & likes to let you know/hear he's around ,LOL).So 3 years ago when he'd just turned 5 i decided to enroll him in a martial arts school, something to build up his confidance & self esteem & it's something ive always had an interest in & thought we could do together. During this time he has won belt certificates/trophies & medals and excelled for someone so young. His confidance is sky high,he's popular at school, does well in his work & is a very respectfull little boy(as well as a great little motorcycle pillion:D). Anyways...sorry to rattle on,but a couple of months back we were in presthaven sands on holiday and he entered the havens got talent competition. He was up against 25 other kids of all ages doing differant acts and the top 6 got into the nightime final. He came 2nd in the final(some other kid aged 5 won it doing some sort of street dancing,he was ace). The proudest moment for me is when he starts spinning his bo-staff and the croud of over 2000 (which to do this in front of in itself i feel shows a lot of new found confidance )roar with approval and start clapping him through his kata demonstration. Anyhow i'll stop banging on:smt015, here is the footage of the event.(sorry for the quality,it took us a while to get it converted from tape) This little boy has come such a long way in his short years, hope you enjoy.... regards Robo(one v proud dad):D http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=M_GbIEqZq-c |

Aww god i`m filling up with tears here. Well done Callum on becoming the confident young man i`ve just watched, that takes guts to get up in front of a crowd that size. Big hug to him x

Re: Havens Got Talent
How proud do you feel! :)
My son is one on the 11th and he was 5 weeks early. He sounds very similar to your son. He is catching up now and I often wonder what he will get into when he's older, rugby like me, swimming, martial arts. But for now I'm just looking forward to his first steps and words. |
Re: Havens Got Talent
thats fantastic. my son is also really small despite being 9lb 6 at 3 weeks early. He started muay thai kickboxing with me in scotland and made him much more confident. need to find some sort of martial art for him to start now we have moved. I love seeing wee kids grow in confidence like your son.

Maybe try googling Premier Martial Arts it's a martial arts school which started in america, then came over here, they tend to mostly concentrate on universal karate which is a combination of karate/kickboxing. They also do ju-jitsu if thats what you or your son would prefer as well as various weapons training. How old is your son?,if he's between 4&6 they do classes called the LiL dragons which starts them off ,juniors are between 7/13 then the adults. I know they have various schools throughout the country,so there may be one close to you......HTH regards...robo. |
