Playing DVD's on a PC???

Tried doing it today but was met with "You may need to adjust your windows media player settings".

Upon trying to use Real Player it allowed me to try and play it but i had to change the region of the DVD reader i.e. to Region 2. Unfortunately once you've changed it so many times you cannot change it back so it's stuck on Region 1.

My question is, are there any other ways round this or alternatives to playing DVD's on a PC???

You could rip the DVD using DVD Decrypter which will remove the region restriction. Then you can re-rip to a blank DVD using DVD shrink. I used to do this all the time, it's pretty simple (hence I can do it.)

Try this
http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/

it is a collection of codecs so you can play a variety of video files on pc's
you will need to use this instead of windows media player

DVD Shrink will rip it without encoding and also write it using whatever program you have for writing. Tis very good as you can compress the DVD to say a 4.7gb DVD and chop off extras you don't need.
