Advice/Opinions Anyone?

Hi all,

I'm a dedicated SV rider and have had the bike since May.
I've recently started a course at uni and don't actually have time to ride for leisure anymore... (though i still use it for work on weekends)

I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on whether I should/shouldn't sell my bike... it's a SV650S K8.

I'm not good with all the specs and everythin as I enjoy riding them most and don't understand anythin on the tech & mech side of things....

So yea I'm abit lame... But it would be great to hear some feedbacks on what you think I should do... I love my bike... But don't have time to give it a good life... and if it sold it the money could help with uni costs a little...

I would appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks

Personally, if I were you, I'd keep it.

From your post, it doesn't come across that the bike is using money that you could/need to spend elsewhere. Uni costs will be met regardless of you having a bike.

You also do get some usage out of it, commuting & weekends.

As you bought a K8, I assume you bought it brand new, and it'd be a shame to take the hit in depreciation as it's now second-hand.

Keep it, enjoy commuting past the traffic, and have fun on the bike during the holidays from uni.

Sorry I forgot to mention before... I bought the bike on finance and still have about 2 years and a half to go... :-( Which is why it'd help with the financial side of things a little bit. But I really do love my bike...

It would only help with finances, if you get the total amount of finance outstanding in the sale.

For example, when I bought my K6, I was paying £112/month (IIRC) for the 0% finance deal. After owning it for 7months, I would of paid off £784, leaving £3716 remaining in finance.

To be honest, I reckon you'd see more depreciation for 7months ownership than £748, leaving you with an outstanding finance agreement, on a bike you no longer own.

I personally would never buy any vehicle & take on someone else's financial agreement.

I'd have to agree with what Baph is saying - the initial hit for daring to take the bike out of the dealers and ride it will tip the balance in favour of the second hand buyer a lot (hence gap insurance being available).

If you're paying a similar amount to what we're paying (I'm paying about the same for my K6), then you're probably only barely going to break even at best.

If you sell it won't pay off the finance bill in full.

I would keep the bike, you wil take a quite a big hit if you sell now.

Also this time of year is bad for selling bikes, consdering most people have no idea what job they will be doing, many people are skit and saving fpr the worst. (I should be) So in all a really bad time to sell. the bad news is the cost of living is going up alot, so we all have to work harder:(

If your stuck forey your gonna have work extra hours have lost count at the amount of over I have done in the past weeks, I just know I'm really tied.

Besides when you get time to ride it will be worth it, it will make easier to get around for college, work ect. Keep the bike:smt026
