K3/K4-K7 exhaust differences?

Sorry for yet another thread on this but its an entirely different question about the same bit of kit heh.

I just read on SVRider:
Quote:

'03 - This year of SV is unique. It has an elevated subframe which means the brackets to mount an exhaust are different from any other year. If you have any '03 SV, then you need to find an exhaust specifically made for the '03. Exhausts made for other years will not work. An exhaust made for '03 will not fit any other year of SV.

'04-'08 - You'll need to look for exhausts fitted for an '04-'08 SV. If the exhaust is made for any of these years, it will fit your bike.
I can only see three bolts holding the pipework (other than the headers) the first two are on the bottom part of the engine so I'm guessing the difference is the hanger? if so can an 03 be made to fit a K6 with some adjustment? or is it just going to be in the wrong place entirely?

From memory the difference in height wasn't so severe, just enough to throw a few components out like the seat but I'm not sure enough heh :)

It's the link pipe that should be different, not anything else.

Yes a K3 would fit your K6, but it may look too long. What brand of can you looking at?

edit: are you talking about full system or end can?

Sorry forgot to mention that, its an Akrapovic full system

Well it's just the subframe that's different, so the headers & bolts to the frame will be fine. It's just the line it sits at might not be parrallel to the subframe or so, but for the cost saving over brand new it should be absolutely fine.

oh cool, I can cope with it looking a bit weird, it has a big dent in it currently so the angle is the least of my worries LOL but for a cheap sound upgrade it should be good
Thanks for the advice

The biggest difference is the silencer to footrest mounting, but as the Akrapovic has a strap rather than a fixed bracket is shouldn't cause any issues.
