My biking day; ERS
So I had an ERS thing today, whereby I'm followed round by an instructor for 2 hours. He said I was like the tasmanian devil on steroids and that I shouldn't trail brake into corners. Apparantly my rear is hopping around on corner entry and I nail it on exit. Apart from that, I need to start doing better road positioning and straight lining things. Aside from my inherent 'craziness' I'm good.
Just prior to that I thought I'd go for a little blast on the 'loop, two connecting roundabouts. It was a very nice feeling being able to carry like, much, much more corner speed than other guys- this dude on a GSX-R600 was all shooting past me on the straight bits, but then I outbroke him with quite a margin and carried much more corner speed, passed him easily. Just before this he was baiting me by keeping level with me and then accelerating away at a ridiculous rate.
Either way, I put this apparent speed down to Blue, who's advice on trail braking has put me in good stead, I wasn't even anywhere near the limit and still carrying much more speed into corners and braking a lot later than them. I was breaking up to about a third through the roundabout (yeah I'm so cool) and then smoothly accelerating out. Was a great feeling passing the much faster bikes. I want to do a trackday.
Yeah, my instructor said my riding was pretty good and that with a bit of refocusing (as in don't concentrate on braking to apex of corners on the road and nailing it out) I could be an excellent rider.
I apologise, finally, for the long post but it's very nice to be told you have lots of potential/being faster than much faster bikes.
