Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
Right'o I need to get to the bottom of this problem. Not sure if it was due to spirited riding on Sunday Ride Out but my bike cuts out on me now and again.
Could everyone give me there suggestions of what it could be. Basically bike will be running fine and the all power goes lights, engine everything. It does not seem to do it at specific time either (like when I use my indicators etc). I just need suggestions other than wiring loom as I'm sure I have found all the faults on that. Thanks Guy's n Gal's |

Check all the wiring around the headstock for chaffing.

Could it be anything else? I have checked around the headstock twice now :(

Re: Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
Check for damp in the connections? There are some chaffing points around the rear subframe aswell

Re: Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
Yeah I managed to find a broken connection where the loom goes to the fuse box. That fixed my dip beam head lights so there working now but I have checked the rest of the loom :(
I Found that my cooling fan wires had rubbed through also but I have now taped that up. It might need a closer inspection. Only other thing I can think of is it's overheating maybe??? Could there be a problem with battery or altenator etc? |
Re: Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
you did have a spaghetti western going on in the back of your tail pod..lol. When you waggled that lot, the lights came back on, I think summats loose up there or chaffed.
Now where to start with mine. It blows fuses now its had an engine swap, at any time no particular thing happens, everything just goes off, though we'd fixed it but obviously not .but where to start?? |
Re: Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
With the cooling fan connection, sort that out quick...I find my curvy dosnt overheat enough to cause the fan to some on except when I am really stuck in traffic, but you do need it! Could be shorting out something?
Could be something getting hot and the expansion causing a disconnection, although thats probably a far fetched idea |

Robs bike cut out whilst riding it, I've not seen that before. Most inoportune moment up a hill in busy slow traffic |
Re: Cutting Out 99 SV650s (Curvy)
Yeah I was thinking that too. I will check out the wiring in the back of my tail pod and see if that sorts it. It's so strange as it does not seem to do it at a certain moment and I have checked all the loom before. I will take a second look see if there is anything I missed. Your problem sounds a bit like mine that I had with my head lights. One of the wires was earthing on the frame as the insulation had been rubbed through thus blowing fuses all the time. After I taped up the wire it was fine :D
Any way if you think you find your problem let me know as well and I will check on my bike :p So Confusing  |
