DVI - RGB or HDMI
So then i bought a plasma and want to link the PC up to it. I have tried SVideo with limited success. Reading the instructions (1st time in a while i can tell ya) it says that the software in the screen recognises and auto adjusts either the RGB or the HDMI input. My PC only has RGB(for the current screen) or a DVI output, so what is best. Im not going to use it as a mian screen but mainly for video output of the PC to the screen.

Re: DVI - RGB or HDMI
Stick a new graphics card in with HDMI out on it... Make the most of what you have :)

Re: DVI - RGB or HDMI
The DVI is best as its digital... the other connection is analogue, though to be honest I'd be surprised if you even noticed the difference.

Re: DVI - RGB or HDMI
Yeah but the OP states that his screen can only read RGB or HDMI and his computer only has RGB (for the current screen) or DVI. So either he carries on using RGB or get a DVI to HDMI cable.
Also re reading the OP post Viney you say you only want to use it for the video output. So first question does your graphics cards support dual outputs i.e. will it output on both RGB and DVI simultaneously? And if it doesnt the DVI-HDMI cable will allow you to switch between the two without messing around with cables. |

Re: DVI - RGB or HDMI
DVI to HDMI cable or converter.
DVI and HDMI are essentially the same, except that HDMI carries audio as well as video. It's only the connectors that are significantly different. I can display pixel perfect 1920x1080 full HD resolution on my TV from my laptop using a DVI to HDMI cable. |
