If it obvious then when you look at the bike head on they will be out of alignment, two pieces of wood or string running at equal distances apart from the back wheel to the front will also show.

Forks are easier, and cheaper, than a frame.

Other things to look for mind, wheels are balanced, headrace is not shot, headrace is not loose, and the state of your tyres can all indicate handling issues. How is the steering from left to right and back again, smooth?

My dad gets back tonight and was going to help me bleed brakes so ill do it with him then, so thanks!
wheel balanceing i know very little about either.

fram looks alright, but who knows !
steering is smooth and fine, its just i have to have the bars to the right a tad if i want to go in a stright line...and do it with a good bit of preassure then.

think my best bet is to take it to my friend at a shop, as seems like these are things you need to see more in person.

While we're on the subject of forks - dave do you reckon this will polish out?

Nah, seriously- is £100 for a pair of immaculate, straight forks + lower yolk a decent price?

A mate of a mates got a donor bike. Think he's got everything I need apart from a wheel (he has a bandit 600 wheel though that fits) and radiator. Just trying to get an idea of whether I can get it cheaper.

Ahh sounds like a good deal there dave.

ok i have deduced that its my forks, or mainly one on the side that went down, as it has gone back and so pulled the wheel off centre slightly ( about 3 -7 cm ) havent measured how much.

Straighten or try to find replacment ??
