Unless it is a super duper all singing all dancing stereo it will cost you just as much to fix it than to buy a new one.
Whats wrong with it anyways?

I'd be tempted to open it up myself and just check everything is as it should be i.e. no obvious signs of damage or broken components then if there are any ribbon cables re-seat them.
Is it a removable fascia?

Crikey, i take its a screen that comes out with all the bells and whistles?

Personaly, id take it to an authoirised repairer for that brand. I have had good and not so good expeiences with getting stuff repiared by independent local repair shops. Whats probably gone is the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the unit. Its waht went wrong on my step dads Kenwood unit, that and the main plug that connected it to the remote box thingy. I repaired it myself in the end. Got the parts from kenwood, job done but it was a stab in the dark.

Have you tried re-seating the ribbon cable first? i.e. take it off and put it back on. Have a few things that I work with where the common problem is a ribbon cable and re-seating it is the fix.
