K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
Hi Guys,
Recently took my SV650 in for its third service, and its now doing roughly 40+ miles less for a tank of fuel. My initial impression is that the service engineer has switched my reserve off (something that has possibly been on since I bought the bike). I've looked on Google, I've looked in my owners manual, and I've even done a physical check with some biker mates to find the reserve tap, but cannot find it. Does anyone know where I can find this? Its coming up for its milage again and don't want to have to fill up prematurely! Thanks very much for your help :p |

Re: K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
There is no reserve, so fill up when the light comes on - unless you feel the need to push your bike.
Light comes on solid with 4 litres left, then flashes from 1.5 litres...or thereabouts. |

Re: K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
talking about mpg, i was astounded when i checked my mileage differences between a tank full thrashed empty and a tank full ridden carefully (commuting), my gixer will do 80-90miles to a tank when the bikes thrashed but about 140-150miles when ridden steady! theres a credit crunch! i think i'll ride steady lol.

Re: K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
As above, there's no reserve tap on your SV. What concerns me is that after a service your bike appears to be using rather more fuel than it previously did, assuming you're not now using it rather differently to the manner that you hitherto did, I'd take it back to whoever fiddled with it and point this out as soon as possible.

Indeed.

Re: K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
How many miles were you getting to reserve, and how many are you getting now until reserve?

On a K7 it flashes @4 and is solid @1.5. ;) As per K7 manual Dated Sept 2006 |
Re: K7 Fuel reserve tap - where is it?
And K8.... which I hadn't realised.
I filled up when mine started flashing at 160 miles, and it only needed 11 litres to brim it... which suggests a full tank easily has 200 miles in it |
