Full Beam Light Partially Staying on.

I turned my bike on today and the full beam light was on but duller than usual. The full beam switch was off so i switched it on and off but it just got brighter when the full beams were on then stayed on dull when it was off.

Any ideas whats going on?

I had the same - the light isn't earthing properly. If you look at the bulbs one will have both elements lit due to the current feeding back on the hi-beam circuit.

Just route a new earth for it and you'll be fine.

Cheers mate! Is it the earth from the headlight bulb wiring? Will i find it at the fusebox end?

Re: Full Beam Light Partially Staying on!!!

All the earths for the front lights are gathered up in an earthbundle behind the clocks, and then a single earth cable runs into the headstock. My earth bundle had signs of scorching (each of the front 6 lights has an earth that runs to the bundle) but I didn't pull the front loom to find the actual position of the failure. I just spliced the headlight earth into the sidelight earth - job jobbed.

The connectors for the headlights open at the back. Run a cable from one headlight earth to the other (black wire with white stripe IIRC) and check it fixes the problem before undertaking any remedial work - and check the bulb filaments to make sure my diagnosis is correct.

have you checked that the 'Pass' button is not stuck down, when pressing it, the high beam comes on, but unlike using the high/low beam switch the low beam does not turn off. The dullness would be because of the extra current being pulled by both filiments working, that would be (65w+50w etc)x2.
