99 (curvy) Exhaust Stud Things

I took my headers off about 2 months ago and when I was undoing the nuts for the flanges off the studs that go in to the engine block they where stuck fast. Basically I removed the whole stud as the nut has done rusty and got stuck to it.

I have some new studs and nuts but I was wondering if their is an easy way to insert the studs without a special tool. I'm going to do it this weekend as I have a set of swingarm bearing to put in.

Just use double nuts on the outside thread of the stud, one locks against the other. Once the stud is in place, then remove both nuts. Plus put a bit of copaslip or copper grease when assembling everything.

No problem, I thought you were doing something a bit more complicated, which doing your swinging arm bearing is a bit more technical. ;-)

Use stainless ones with copperslip

But seriously.

They are M8 but a coarser than standard thread.

I've got a couple here Phil. If you PM your addy I'll pop 1 or 2 in the post to ya. Otherwise any reasonable bike spares shop should have them on the shelf.

That looks like the normal metric coarse thread pitch to me... will measure one of my spare heads...
