Carbon can - with a crack!

Ok folks ive got a scorpion carbon can off ebay for what i would like to think is a good price. (56 quid) however the slight scuff as advertised is actually a crack in the top layer of the carbon. It under the exhaust strap so wont be seen but will it effect thecan at all? Should i use it? or is it scrap? or alternativly can i whack a bit of araldite on it?

Your thourghts if you please :)

btw just had the cutest kids come trick or treating. Jesus im going soft :)

Carbon cans aren't good on V-twins, the pulses tend to crack them (depending on the quality of the carbon). You already have a crack in yours, a weak spot for the future maybe?

oh great... so what do you think? send it back and lookout for a cheep stainless one?

tbh though if it can be repaired i would prefer it over a stainless one. ot if its going to be ok? when you say they crack. does that mean the cans scrap then?

The tend to crack or split and then need repairing.

An IL4 has a smooth exhaust pulse were as a V-twin is a thumper will vibrate the can.

Is the carbon broken?

Or is it just the epoxy/top layer that has cracked?

£56?;)
You got what you paid for!
Stick it on, enjoy, replace as required which will probably be long after you've bought another bike....HTH

He has a good point there, and if it goes you always have the OEM one to bolt back on whilst you source another.

Yeah I would say the same. Keep it if it does break try and repair or just pop your old can back on. As for the trick or treaters they will be the same ones who knocked on my door 30mins ago :smt081
