K-tech springs.
Has anyone on here used them?
I bought some for my bike (I know not SV) to lower the spring rate. Just wondering what people thought to the changes theirs made to the bikes handling. Also did they come with spacers to replace the stock ones OR were they the same length as the stock ones? |
Re: K-tech springs...
It's pointless asking, kit will be completely different. Stroke is different, fork is USD not RWU, cartridge damped not damper rod.
Suffice to say a spring rate not stupidly high will allow front end to feel less harsh and more compliant and let bike handle as well as it should. I seem to remember you've got a purdy fancy rear shock on it? Nitron was it? Personally I'd give maxton a ring and see what they can do. They know their stuff and will certainly supply you with springs of correct rate and matching spacers and oil. |
Re: K-tech springs...
Aye nice shock. Tis a penske. Made the rear feel amazing on the power but the front has a 1.05kg/mm spring in it which is WAY too hard for me and makes it front feel pretty bad unless Im pushing REALLY hard. I need a 0.88kg/mm to suit me. So I have actually ordered a set of springs already from K-tech... 8.5Nmm ones which is pretty much bang on what I need.
I have done research and all should be well with stock dampening. That part Showa seems to have got pretty much right... apparently. Ill see I suppose :) You are probably right about them being different on the bikes... Suppose its a silly thread lol. Oh well. |
Re: K-tech springs...
You'd be daft to do the springs without doing the oil as well.

Oh yea, going to change oil... 5W I think. |
Re: K-tech springs...
Check viscosity index as not all 5w is alike.

Re: K-tech springs...
Hmm. Well I think I need some on the lighter side. The forks are a little over damped on the compession side so this should cure it or at least make it better... :)

Re: K-tech springs.
K-Tech did the SRAD front end and the front end on the TL, lovely job!

Re: K-tech springs.
Yeah they certainly know what they're doing. Why not just phone or email them and ask them? Be a good time to get them to recommend an oil too.

Re: K-tech springs.
Aye ill do that. Just say I bought some springs to suit my wait and was wondering if they could recommend me the oil for my weigh with stock valving. :)
