Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
ok i know i'm a cheep skate. i got one of those cheep ebay tail tidy's from a company in germany (romatech). the quality looked really good and well made.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-SV-650-...742.m153.l1262 went to fit it today and it fits no problems. but there is now a great big gap where the original mudguard went, its the part where the original mudguard contours the gap between the light and the under tray... anyone else have this problem with any other tail tidy? i have a K8 650 Sport. |
Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
Hmmm....sounds a little familiar. I fitted an R&G tail tidy to my K8 Sport last weekend and have a noticeable gap where the tail tidy fixes to the mounting lugs on the brackets.
Will take some pics to show what I mean when I get chance. |
Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
I think they are all like that, the subframe and the bodywork are a distance between each other which not all tail tidies fill.
I think the EvoTech and Hamicad ones fill the gap with an additional Plate. http://www.hamicad.co.uk/SV_Fender/IMAG008A.JPG |
Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
think i'll get the dremmil out and butcher the original mudguard, see if i can make something to fill the gap...

Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
the evotech has a neoprene/foamy covered metal coverplate which fills the gaps. i fitted mine about 2 weeks ago :)

Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
What gets me, is that, the companies that make these tail tidies, know that there's a gap after fitting them, so I don't know why they don't just make them a bit wider - or just simply fit correctly. When I got my PUIG tail tidy, it came with plastic triangles to fill the gap, but the triangles looked tacky, so I didn't bother. The gaps will only bother you for a while because you've just put the tidy on (and will keep looking at it!!!). After a while you'll forget that there's even a gap there. Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to fill the gap.

Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
Yup, the german one is crap. I emailed them about the gap, but they couldn't care less. I ended up putting some foam in, as I was worried about water getting in.

Re: Ebay, German, Tail Tidy
ah right i didnt realise that, obviously then the number plate and indicators would then fit straight to the undertray.
