I'm a new rider. Have I damaged my gear box?

I really don't know if I've damaged my K8 SV650's gear box. Well here is the story. I was cut up by a white van driver with faulty indicators (again), which got me going, so in turn I cut him up. I wanted to do a burn out in front of him, so I had the front break on and with me being wound up to the max I had my foot on the rear break too (when I should have placed it up where the sun don't shine) I had the bike in 1st gear. First gear makes a funny noise sort of sounds like a car reversing not as loud. I don't know if this could have caused the problem, or do these bikes make this noise anyway?

Did it jump out of gear when you were trying burnout or what?

Ah the famous bike VS van duel... there is only one winner.
I would say any damage you've done would be to your clutch after that ridiculousness. You'll need to have the oil and filter changed too.
If you got the rear wheel spinning I'd check your rear pads and rear disc.

And heres the reality bit....as a new rider you are a huge danger to yourself.
Cutting up a van is a good way to short cut yourself to a wheelchair if not something more horizontal. I understand the actions made in anger and how in the cold light of day they seem silly and regretful, but there is very little place for anger on a bike...it takes away any and all concentration you have. Your bike isnt now, and will never be a physical weapon-so cutting across drivers does nothing except endanger you, and give the rest of us a bad name. How do you think that van driver will respond to the next biker he meets? It could be me, or one of my friends..... or one of yours....

Dont stoop to their level...rise above it and move on-you're a biker-an urban warrior-a motorised ninja..you'll be there twice as fast in any case whilst he's stuck in traffic reading the sun eating a bacon roll wishing his fat oul bird had nipples like she does :)

Hope you havent done much damage to your bike...be careful who you bring it to-you might have ****ed your warranty as well if the place you brought it to gets wind of it.

Yeah bad idea.

The bad news is the gearbox is not cassete type and it's vertically split cases. So it's major headaches to inspect. I'd be tempted to change the oil and strain it to check for any parts making metal or any broken teeth dropping out.

No it didn't, I also changed the oil and filter myself and there was no metal fillings. Don't know if its bent the teeth or not. Should I start pulling away in second?

So what did it do? Did you just try and spin it up and nothing happen?

And it's been making a noise like that since?

I'd have a gander at the primary drive and clutch.

That is a very big job. I rang up a garage and got a quote already, just ain't got that kinda money at the moment. Is there anyway or anyone that I can ask if what I done could have definately damaged the 1st gear or the clutch with out opening the box? With any luck it might just go away or would that be pushing it..lol
