Hoot for peace...really? why?

many years ago....ok about 5 - ish, maybe more, when one of the many current "wars" started. there was a group of people in bristol city centre with plaquared;s / signs etc stood by the side of the road with "beep/toot/hoot for peace writen on said signs.

at the time was about 50 or so people ona good day, maybe 20 on a bad day.

over the years the number has fallen drastically....then about 2 months ago i noticed it started to be one very fragile looking old lady with one sign stood by the side of the road almost every night at about 5oclock asking people to hoot for peace.

anyone know why they do it? know someone who does this? is it just a bristol thing or are there others around the country doing the same thing? i think energys could be better used than holding a sign by the side of the road.

id say this lady was in her 70's....is there at least 3 nights a week whatever the weather and noone beeps anymore that ive noticed.

ive been tempted go and speak to her and find out what her story is, has she lost someone to war? i think i might soon.

but id be inclined to speak my mind and tell her that beeping a car horn will stop no wars..hmmmm...spose this is me thinking out load really.

I find that really sad (as in :(). The fact that noone cares anymore and she just carries on regardless bless her. I think you should definitely speak to her, perhaps that is the main reason she does it, not because she thinks she can make a difference but because she just wants someone to talk to her :(

Perhaps persuade her out of it if you can, a lady regularly out on the streets whatever her age is vulnerable :smt085

I`d also need to speak to her and find out her story as with such dedication she surely must have one.

I`m not so sure that trying to talk her out of it would work.... I`ll bet the sole reason she does this is because it makes her feel better in some way and that she`s doing this in order to keep the memory of someone she`s lost very much alive.

The fact that someone has actually bothered to stop, ask and listen to her story will probably make her day so you HAVE to.

Now you`ve posted this i`m intrigued :-D
