Re: Nintendo DS
As far as I know, they are the same in terms of games and cartridges, just the Lite is smaller.

Re: Nintendo DS
The DS Lite came out last year, the DS was the older version. The light is smaller overall but screen is the same size. You can adjust the brightness on the Lite and the stylus is a bit thicker so easier to use for most. Buttons are a bit better on the Lite too, if you have a choice go for Lite (they play the same games!)

Re: Nintendo DS
Might be worth waiting a few months - there is another new version of the DS due out soon with a webcam and other extras.
I'll PM you later when I have time :) |
Re: Nintendo DS
We love our DS Lite - it got used more than our Wii so thats been sold now. About 75% through "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" at the moment - great game! :)

Re: Nintendo DS
Right at work now so some more time to post.
The DS lite is the second generation DS - its smaller and lighter and has a built in headphone socket - the Gen1 DS's needed an adaptor for headphones. Due to it being released a couple of years later, while it will still play GBA games, the cartridges stick out from the unit. The 3rd gen DS - or DSi has already been released in Japan, it is thinner than the DS Lite, doesnt have a slot for GBA games, but has got an SD card slot for playing back MP3's etc - and it has bigger and better screens than the DS and better speakers. It also has 2 cameras - like a phone, one facing the user and one away. The EDGE card referred to above (also know ans R4 card) is a flash card that allows you to play backups of your games - so I can basically take backups if the games I own and put them all on one card - this means I have less to carry around. It also means that you can play ANY backup - so they are accused of encouraging Piracy. The DSi doesnt work with the EDGE carts, but there is a new cart that has been developed that will take care of that. So basically, if you can wait, I would. |
