A rubbish collector will get a great Christmas present if he can unravel the jigsaw of £10,000 torn up bank notes.

Graham Hill found the large bundle of cut up £10 and £20 notes while emptying bins in Lincoln, last May, according to a newspaper.

He handed the package to police, but after six months no one had claimed the notes and investigators could find no evidence that it was stolen or linked to criminal activity.

The Bank of England said it would exchange the notes for new ones if Mr Hill could piece the money back together again.

A central bank spokeswoman said: "Providing the bank notes meet the evidence requirements, then an application for reimbursement should be successful. In particular we look at the two serial numbers on the front of the notes."

Colleagues of Mr Hill's are hoping he gets to work quickly.
A co-worker said: "I just hope he pieces enough of the notes back together to get a round of drinks in at the work Christmas do. Christmas is only around the corner, so any bonus will be welcome."

I seem to recall a couple of young teenage girls found a similar large amount of ripped up notes a while ago, and spent every spare hour piecing them together. I think they copped about 10K between them too.

From what I heard all you need to do is piece together the queens head not the whole note.

On the N/S run a few years ago. We stopped at the side of the road to wait for others to catch up. in the grass I see what looks like money. Gets off and it is a load of £20 notes torn up. Yippee I think as I start collecting them. Until some smart **** points out they all have the same number and are colour photocopies.

Scoobs, Never one to stay off the grass are you:smt019. You have to try and be witty. You damm well know I wait for no one. they wait for me

It was catch up from the run into town for fuel. Some were still on their way from the filling station in Penrith. My instruction from Mark was to take everyone who was ready to the Pooley Bridge road and wait for him to bring down the rest.

So catch up in its strictest sense. But not catch up as in Mark lighting his second rollup waiting for the blade/gixxer types to finally catch him.
