now my xbox is knackered
 

well it's just broke i cant play it at all it just freezes and the screen goes funny with lines on it and sometimes a chequered pattern goes on the screen i rang xbox up and because it's 20 days out of warranty their not interested unless i pay for it now im peed off :mad:

yep i dont know what to do now do i buy a elite and hope it lasts better or just sod microsloth and go ps3 :(

Did you get the red ring of death?

Use the towel trick (does not invalidate your warranty)

Btw did you know microsoft also just extended the warranty for the ring of death to 3 years? Just rang them up and got mine sorted and had it just over 2 years.

If its not the red ring then you're stuffed I'm afraid. Sounds like your graphics card has warped. (common on the series 1 models) Towel trick it upside down to see if it helps. (not got anything to lose)

no ring of death and it's a fairly new console late 07 model im really not impressed to tell the truth im skint enough as is without having to buy another console.

worries over the xbox is now fixed and better than new and currently playing prince of persia which is amazing.

How did you fix it out of interest?I took my last one apart and did the x-clamp mod with one of the screw kits from e-bay.....then the screwdriver slipped and ruined the motherboard so I had to buy another one....D'oh. I did manage to fix temporarily before it went alltogether using the towel trick though.

no idea one of my family fixed it for me he already fixed one and it's been running quieter and reliably for yonks i'm well happy though saved me buying another console.

Nice one! If you ever have the ring of death again check out youtube as there are loads of helpful guides on dismanteling them and modifying the graphics chip clamp (x-clamp) just dont use a sharp screwdriver like i did :)
