Oops!
I accidentally bought a Honda today! Its not even a V twin Honda.
Overzealous Ebayitis struck and I'm now a Honday Hornet owner! At least it's the same colour as me old SV. So when we going out for a bimble? :) |
Re: Oops!
when I feel the warmth of the sun and not the Ice on the roads... ;-)

Re: Oops!
Are the wheels the same diameter front and back? ;)

Re: Oops!

Re: Oops!
Well, to be honest, I wasn't expecting the Hornet to be much different from the Curvy.
It is! In just about every way there is. I had a popple across to Whitby on it today (and It'll be Friday by the time I warm up! :) ) and I can't think of anything that is remotely similar to the SV apart from the colour. The Hornet clutch is lighter and the bearbox is way smoother. Clutchless changes up or down are simple. The riding position is much more upright than the SV and the SV fairing actually has more protection than the Hornet fairing (surprising). The Engine is far free-er reving. The engine is a lot less vibey and the power is spread over such a large range its a bit of a none event. The SV has it all squashed into about 3000 RPM of "Whehey"!, the Hornet is over 9000. The brakes are alot better on the Hornet and the suspension is a lot plusher. But you know what? the Curvy is SOOOOOO much more exciting to ride! :) The Hornet makes it all far too civilised... so far! The SV is far more involving to ride. Lets see what it's like with a Blue Flame can on it at 13,500 RPM though :) C |
Re: Oops!
Yep you summed it right there Berlin. I also rode one for a while and felt the same exact sensation, well almost no sensation to be a bit hard on the Horney. It's a great bike don't get me wrong, I even considered buying it as it felt easier to ride but something held me. The SV is somewhat more involving and in a strange way feels the more powerful bike, stronger without in actual figures being so.

Re: Oops!
I'm going to be getting meself a hornet as soon as I can, well, when the weather's better. I absolutely loved the one I had use of for a while and had great fun riding it  You can rag the nuts off them and they handle ace - gives me a right old grin. I prefer hornets to my Z1000 in a million ways and I just didn't get on with my curvy SV for some reason. I dunno, I think if we all liked the same thing it'd be a boring old world
