Largs Ice Cream Run. Discussion

Well following on from mighty northy's lead of early planning. Last year was feb 17th.

Please use this thread to discuss dates, routes, meeting points etc. Once there is a few options i'll collate and create a poll or two to finalise details.

Firstly where do we get icecream in Largs (the cafe on the waterfront??)

At st Andrews we discussed adding a ferry ride to the largs run, do we want to do this, if so do we want it on the way to the ice cream or post ice cream???

I dont know the west particularly well, so step up folks.

Well to get the ball rolling.:smt040

Dates, Jan or Feb for me, March is pretty much out, April's practically summer:-D

Meet: Carbeth Inn, Blanefield:smt115. or Bishopbriggs Burger king or BMW bike shop???

Route: Balloch, Millitary Road, Rest n b thankful, Ardbeg (either loch Eck or coast road) Dunoon FERRY, Largs. About 100 miles give or take.:batman:

After Ice cream pretty much everyone will be heading east (unless you stay on Arran, so Gerbrox or Stramasher's proposal of a pint could be incorporated back glasgow way before all heading home???

100 miles so one tank, dont think there's fuel at Blanefield but plenty around bearsden / bishopbriggs.

Like i said, this is not the meeting point or route just ideas......

Apart from the 1st, I'd say any Sunday in February.

The cafe near the ferry terminal sells Nardinis ice cream I think.

Ferry is a great idea, before Largs though, don't want any land lubbers crying off after they've filled their boots!

Beer is also a good idea, at any time or place.

Routewise let me have a little furtle round a road atlas and get back to you...

I go snowboarding early January, so a date in February gives me a few weeks to recover .

Another possible meeting point is Hein Gericke/ Ducati Glasgow on Great Western Road.
The short ferry crossing from Dunoon is a nice way to break up the run.

I think february makes sense... Last years was great, I really wanted a go on the ferry though! So this sounds good. Does the ferry have tiedowns etc? I've got my own (and not even the slightest clue how to use them) but I don't suppose everyone does.

Well, for me all the dates work, and I'll randomly turn up or not depending how cowardly I feel.
