The Electrickery fell out.
As Jambo so aptly put it when he saw me on London Bridge last night, all the electrickery fell out of my engine.
Basicly I came down London bridge and went under and around a slow taxi, and as I did I hit a pot hole, though more of a big dip. Then I hit another, this time with much more force, as I did the bike made a massive BANG! And the engine died, with my coasting it to the side of the road and the bike gurgling it life away. I have lights, starter motor, dash and all the normal stuff, but no spark from the spark plugs. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...51208_1743.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...208_174301.jpg 1st hole http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...51208_1744.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...208_174501.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...208_174502.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...208_174503.jpg 2nd hole. Jambo stopped and let me get these photos and stayed with me untill the recovery arrived and got taken back to Portsmouth. So after I have finished work I need to figure out the problem. So watch out on London bridge. |

Re: The Electrickery fell out.
Having said that I'd probably start by checking the battery terminals are tight, then check for loose earth conections, and then the cgi unit in the tail?

Re: The Electrickery fell out.
Well I have lights, checked the fuses and the starter relay, but as I have a dash its not likely to be that, checked the kill, switch, clutch and side stand switches. Also had the left front panel off and checked the 'orange/white' connection which appeared to be fine, but I need to really check it with a meter. Could be that as the shock compress on something it cut a wire, but I need to get the back off to have a look.

Re: The Electrickery fell out.
Strange, I'm not hugely clued up with sv electronics since I'v never had any trouble with them. Is there a low tension feed onto the coil or is that all done by the cgi unit?
I know on a land rover I had, you had a single plug providing the low tension to the coil then the coil ran to the distributer. What I'm getting at is that if that plug became dissconected it would cut the spark on all 4 cylinders. Perhaps this could be something similer? |
Re: The Electrickery fell out.
I'm suspecting the connection to the signal generator has been cut or something, but this is all speculation.
