Bid sniping on ebay, it annoys me so much its untrue.
NYE, its crap every year but everyone still goes out and spends a fortune.
Variable speed limits on the M42, 40mph on an empty motorway in the middle of the night is not acceptable :smt072:smt072:smt072

Whats wrong with ebay sniping? All part of the fun I thought? :-)

I cant stand sicknotes. People who are obviously faking being ill and always at the wrong time... usually when they have to do something hard or important.

Re: Room 101!!

Being a bit of a massive Orwell fan, I assume that this refers to the torture of Winston and Julia in the novel 1984?

Quote:

"You know what is in room 101, Winston. Everyone knows what is in room 101."
Then a few pages later we get this.

Quote:

"You asked me once", said O'Brien, "what was in room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in room 101 is the worst thing in the world".
Quote:

"The worst thing in the world," said O'Brien, varies from individual to individual. It may be burial alive, or death by fire, or by drowning or impalement, or fifty other deaths. There are cases where it is some quite trivial thing, not even fatal."
Quote:

"in your case," said O'Brien, the worst thing in the world happens to be rats"
As I said, I love the works of Orwell. I have thought about his premise of Room 101 before and I do not honestly know what it would take to make me betray my beloved. It would have to be fairly horrifying I think.

As for the TV program, I feel it has lost the meaning of Room 101 somewhat, although I am not sure how popular it would be if they really did torture celebrities with the thing they fear most, probably a bit dark for prime time TV! :smt019

For me, the TV show would have to contain bigots of all kinds, Dog poo on the pavement, and quoting badly from my favourite books... :takeabow:

Good thread though, made me think and dig out my favourite book. Looks like I may be diving into it again tonight, I could do with a good cry. :smt089

Elevators and trains etc. that talk to you. " This elevator is now going up " folwed by a TING kind of noise.

OF COURSE IT IS GOING UP.....I GOT IN ON THE GROUND LEVEL AND PRESSED THE 4..... WHERE IS IT SUPPOSED TO GO?¿? Sideways?¿?

The smoking ban!!! Sorry, but I can´t be arsed to go to a pub where I can´t have a smoke with my pint.

Having to stay here in the UK for 2 month:confused::confused:

Not having been in England for the best part of 30 years, this place reminds me of the film 1984. Big brother is watching you kind of thing CCTV left right and center, What next?¿?
