Ice a P-P football matches

Why??

my game was called off as well as many others today.

Why cant we play on the ice? I played rugby on the ice for years in the winter. Hurt like hell and had so many rashes and burns from it but nothing more than that.

So whats the big drama about it then?

EDIT: Title should say 'Ice and P-P football matches' :)

some professional games are called off in icy conditions due to crowd safety.

Re the rugby thing, reckon if Stuart Pearce kicked any rugby player in the leg they'd roll round on the floor too ;)

crowd safty? Im not sure about that, as far as I know, its the pitch. I.E the fulham game today was called off at the last minute because once the heated cover was taken off the pitch it began to freeze very quickly.

Plus that would stop amature/semi pro level either

but yeah, getting kicked hurts. end off. dont try kickboxing, it involves getting kicked alot.

yup, professional games as per my post

Frozen terraces and congestion on roads approaching grounds has certainly resulted in the cancellation of games I have been planning to attend though in the majority of cases it is frozen pitches.

I'd be glad to avoid a game in this weather anyway! ;)

When I was in the cubs we played once on an icy pitch. One lad went in for a tackle and slid through a very small frozen puddle. The ice cracked and tore his leg open like jagged glass. Not nice.
