Well said.... a lot of money for what they actually offer.

The SV has great carbs to be honest, I still run with the OEM carbs.

Depends on setup and other components. You also lose the choke, and the easy drivability of the stock carbs- flatslides dump fuel as fast as you turn the throttle, so you can bog down something rotten if you're not always just right. Are you a throttle chaser? (ie, do you ever open the throttle then wait for the revs to catch up?) Can't really do that with flatslides.

I gained 6hp from about 4K, would be horrid on the road and not really a benefit, but on track theyre great, the bike will virtually accelerate as fast as you can open the throttle (tuned motor).
If you get them from Allens they're about £750+ vat, JHS would be a bit cheaper but take longer Or order them direct from the US from someone like SVraceshop, a friend of mine got his for about £530 when the exchange was good

thanks guys i knew the story with the cracking opening of the throttle and bogging down ,but the way i look at that its just like a correcting tool to get my timing smother and applying the throttle more evenly smother = faster ,i have done the cam swap from pointy to curvy and have a full akropovic system on it and it is used for racing

Have you considered FI? The bits are likely to be cheap and there are some good inexpensive controllers around.

Cheers

Also you can bore out the pointy throttle bodies for a bit more poke.
