Yoke Key Damage

Hi Troops.

Any suggestions on re-painting/ spraying a key damaged yoke? I.e paint type etc. I know I can cover the scratches with a yoke protector if a re-spray isn't an option.

Thanks!!

polish it. Its laquered, so you can strip that off with paint stripper then polish it up like new

+ 1, give it good clean up and a light sand first.

Edit: Take it off the bike first...

On my pointy it's painted black, but it's extremely thin paint. The key wears the paint away to the bare metal. I've been looking at repainting mine with Hammerite too.

It can be done, use paint stripped to remove the paint from the cast section and then polish up the smooth top section.

Hammerite will be the next best alternative, or powder coating.

busted out the hammerite today. used a few miles of masking and newspaper to stop any stray paint. worked a treat on a couple of minor scuffs on the swingarm and frame.

bit concerned about the finish on the yoke. the sprayed area looks a bit shiny compared to the existing paint, after 1 hour drying. will check back tomorrow.

otherwise gotta spray the whole thing:(

I would just spray the whole lot, then take anything attached to your key off of it and get a seperate soft keyring.

Never understood why people have loads of other stuff attached to their bike key. Saw a guy on an 08 675 in summer with his house keys attached to the bike keys and keyring....the yoke was BATTERED. such a shame.
