Busy afternon removing bearing

This is what will happen to your linkage bearings if you don't grease them, although a combination of winter and Mr Suzuki's lack of grease in the first place, probably had a lot to do with this!

3.5 bearings removed ok

Luckily this was a spare swingarm that I'd got off Evilbay, so it wasn't my lack of maintanence that was the cause. I was stripping out the bearings, prior to taking it to the powder coaters.

The main pivot bearings came out fine, but the linkage bearings were well rusty when I took off the dogbones. One side came out with the help of a 17mm socket used as a drift. But the other refused to budge, even with a bit of gentle warming and plus gas treatment the night before.

So I had to destroy the bearing completely to get it out!

Top tip though, the head of a 1/2 inch socket extention (pictured) is the pefect size for drifting out the bearing, but i didn't find this out until afterwards!

But now set to take it to get powder coated. Plus a few other bits :)

Yeah according to the gospel of spannerman, the big 4 jap manufacturers carefully budget for grease. 1 tub a year. And they share it.
