Preconceptions

Preconceptions ; they’re a funny thing aren’t they, I recently joined a CCM forum to find any know issues with the 404, and they were due to meet at Boxhill today, so I added to there thread I’d pop along to say “hi”*, given that they are the “off road” types and pic’s and avatars abound of mud covered soaked bikes and riders I wouldn’t have expected a little rain to have stopped them…………..:smt102

Still had a blinding few hours hooning about in the rain, first time I've done the ZigZag at 50 in the rain, awesome.

* or of course they may have been warned and be avoiding me.....:(

Cheers Mark.

I want a supermoto. They look so light and fun. Are you getting on well with it then? :)

you are correct on both counts, it is fun and light.....

I'm not sure, but I think it's illegal to ride one without a smile on your face, fortunately that's one Law I haven't broken*

* not that I would any others of course....;)

My ideal is something not particularly powerful but light and well handling. So I will be keeping my eyes peeled for one in a year or so, for after my restriction is up.

well the DRZsm is all that, but back to back my 2004 404 is more powerful (mid range), better suspension (handling) and about the same tank range as a 2007 DRZsm ( they both have basically the same engine*).

Given the fact that DRZ's are currently in vogue they carry a bit of a premium, if you can find one get the CCM 404ds, they come in either enduro (off road wheels) as in the DRZ400S, or Supermoto (17" road wheels) as in the DRZ400SM, or sometime both sets of wheels (takes about 20 minutes to chhange between them**.

*Not quiet the same as the 404 has the compatition 400E version, different cams and higher compression, but both are fairly close to each other.

** you need to adjust the suspension settings as well which takes another 5-10 minutes, but worth doing if you're green laning.

Cheers Mark
