Replacing only the front sprocket, can it be done?
 

I'd like to change my front sprocket one tooth down on my cbr600rr; will I need to change the chain and rear sprocket too? I've only done 2kmiles on my bike so plenty of life left in them.

don't see why not but just means when you come to change the other 2 you'll probably have to change all 3 as the front sprocket wear will speed up to meet the wear already experienced by the chain

piece of cake to do mate might just have to move rear wheel 2 mm to compensate for the slack.

Ideally you should change both the sprockets and chain at the same time to prevent premature wear.

I doubt it will affect the wear much at all personally. New front sprocket may wear a little quicker than normal but most are knackered by neglect way before naturally expiring.

Bikes only done 2K -----------DOUBT IF YOU HAVE ANY WEAR WORTH BOTHERING ABOUT-------just change the front and adjust your chain tension. Front,rear and chain should give normal life if properly maintained. Don't waste your money changing anything else.
We change sproket set ups front or rear all the time on race bikes and they have a harder life than a road bike

No I just want to change it so i can pull power wheelies in 2nd :)
Was originally thinking of k&n air filter & power commander, but this is a much cheeper alternative and I'm not fussed about loosing top end speed

Or go to a wheelie school and learn how to wheelie properly, with someone elses bike and save your money. More satisfaction and safer IMO to wheelie off the clutch.
