Instead of tre mod
Bike is a 05 650 race bike.Instead of the tre mod, is it possible to short gear position sensor to make bike think its in sixth gear all the time.Presumably you would lose neutral lite?

Re: Instead of tre mod
No you fit a resistor across the wire the ECU uses.
That maintains neutral light operation. Or you could detach the sensor and find a way to hold it in 6th position... or do that by shorting inside of sensor instead of using the little pins inside the end of the selector drum... or... Nah f##k it too much work! Just use a resistor in normal TRE style it's easiest way. |
Re: Instead of tre mod
Dont do it!. Your never riding the bike at 4,000rpm on track (where the retard in ignition is) and plus you WILL want the bike to run individual gear maps for better performance anyway!.
The retard is only teeny anyway and defaulting the bike to a high gear (rich) and ignition map will only loose you ALOT more than the retard looses you anyway. |
Re: Instead of tre mod
Rich in high gear? SV has no ram air so I wouldn't think it would make a difference?

I know the SV isnt speed restricted anyway but the guys selling the TRE's are really ripping the pee. They state it removes the speed limiter on all the late Suzuki's...BUT they havent been speed restricted since 2005 at least! The clocks just stop reading thats all. |

Both methods of remapping.
I also am 99% sure a TRE is illegal in minitwins. |
Re: Instead of tre mod
I was doing a few things on the bike today, my next job was the TRE solder in a resistor mod until my brother told me about this post... so I decided to hold off until I read it.
Now that it has been explained properly I have a spare resistor in my toolbox... |
