We can only suggest if it's do-able or not if you tell us time-scales and mode of transport (good guess is bike, but maybe not?)

Always do-able, but, take into account, cost, maintenance, time your wishing to spend seeing sights. I think you've said that you have about 3 months to do all this IIRC.

went to rome last year with the missus, its a wicked city, but i wouldnt stay there longer than a weeked as you can see all of the sights in two days. I definetly would not drive there, the italians all drive like nutters.

Watch out for the pickpockets and Roma kids, no worse than London i guess, but they are a bit more blatant, especially trampish women with babys, some of them pretty much have no morals.

J2UK, you say...."trampish women with babys, some of them pretty much have no morals" FANTAZTIC, just what I am looking for:-) But I do want to spend more than a few days in Rome tho it could be like Old Faithful in Yellostone National Park, three minutes of watching a squirt of water coming out of the ground and back on the Suzuki and off to the next stop.

Lol, :) trust me your not looking for these ones.

But seriously there is alot of intersting stuff to see in Rome, if you like culture.

We saw all the sights, the best were probably climbing to the top of the Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chappel, then again the Trevi Fountain is pretty impressive as is the colosseum.

You can easily see it all in one day if you get up early, if you go to the Vatican make sure you get there by 7.00-7.30 or you will be queing for at least two hours.

Use the website Trip Advisor as there is a lot of good info on there and i am sure you will be able to find stuff on campsites and that.

Another thing, watch ur food bills as resturants sometimes rip you off, wine is cheap and nice though, so thats a bonus. :)

Couple of pics.

If you look closly you can see the two hour line.
