Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
I was wondering whether or not my jacket and trousers would do for snowboarding. It's all textile/goretex and isn't too restricting on movement - and from memories of bruises the last time i went, i could do with all the protection i can get :-D
any thoughts? anyone tried it? |
Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
I used my winter goretex gloves when we went this year, worked a treat, much better than my specific snowboard gloves are.
We looked at the body armour etc and the Dainese stuff just looked like their motorcross kit with different graphics on it. I reckon it'd be OK to use your textiles, but I havent tried it. Just dont break your wrist like I did.... |
Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
I used my textiles the other day in the snow, I was the warmest of the pack of us :D Mine dried off from fully soaked in a cold garage by the next morning at 7.
Can't see why they would be a problem to use :) |
Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
You might get a bit hot in bike gear, we were skiing in Switzerland last week in just long sleeve t -shirts some days.

Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
Too hot is fine - i can always roll in the snow to cool off (honest thats what i was doing... who said i fell over?)

Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
No.
Too bulky! |
Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
don't see why not! it will be waterproof and hopefully have some padding in the right places! but I wouldn't want to damage my biking kit.
the main thing I would recomend though if thinking about boarding a bit would be to buy some impact shorts! I feel naked without them on. feel a lot safer wearing them and not had a sore tail bone since! |
Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
always used my gore-tex stuff for skiing. If it's snowing you can keep the thermal lining in for warmth, and you can take it out if it gets hot. All armoured for when you fall over, and waterproof so you don't get wet pants from sitting n mel****er.

Re: Snowboarding - bike kit any good?
I reckon the trousers and sleeves will be too short. Otherwise probably be quite good.
If you have a full zip together 2 piece, that will even serve as powder skirt - essential I say. |
