fitting grips
Ok folks. Any tips on fitting heated grips? i.e. getting the old ones off and getting the new ones on? Ive seen the guides but wont have a lot of time to do it this weekend (about ˝ to 1 hour tops) so want to get everything sorted and out of the way in one go.
Any advice appreciated. On a side note I covered the entire bike in acf50 a while ago and havnt ridden it since. I took a look at it last night and its not evapourated as I was expecting meaning everything is oily and slippery. Any tips on getting it off? Ive wiped it down but its still covered. Oh and I discovered that it doesn’t taste very nice either….. |
Re: fitting grips
Lmao!
Float them off with compressed air, pop down here with it if you want. |
Re: fitting grips
ACf doesn't evaporate. Take it off with brake cleaner, or just ignore it and wait for the slipperiness to dissapate. Check you haven't ACF'd the brakes though!

Re: fitting grips
If the handle bars are off the bike I used boiling water and they came rigt off as it melted the glue. Or failing that shove a flathead down them as far as it'l go without tearing the rubber and ease round the outside then spray wd40 down and it'll be off in a second.

Re: fitting grips
Who can be bothered taking all mods off a bike. Would cost me more to put back to stock than I would earn from the sale!

Re: fitting grips
I'd be tempted to take heated grips off and put them on another bike! I'm not gonna buy a new pair am I and a potential buyer isn't going to pay more than a fiver extra for them.

Re: fitting grips
Anyway why brake them when they are so easily removed?!

Re: fitting grips
Indeed. See my earlier post about floating them off with some compressed air... I just don't chuck stuff away. Bah gum.
