royal mail...

waiting for an insurance certificate to arrive which should have come yesterday as it was "Dispatched before 12 noon on wednesday first class via royal mail". There is still no sign of the postman and fair enough, we've had 2 inches of snow yesterday (a whole 2 inches - call the national guard and superman) but our postman comes at around 1pm every single day regardless of weather.

My finely calculated plan of:
  • taking the works van back to west yorks
  • getting a lift from a mate to the car I've just bought
  • taking car to post office for 6 months tax
  • driving back to york with friend in tow
  • friend takes me back to west yorks where i pick up my main car
  • drive home to york solo and start stripping the newly purchased car
is all completely going to ****. The postman isn't here. The seller has to leave by 3.30pm, my friend said he could help me up until around 3pm as well, and after today I've not got another free day til probably friday next week - the seller will have to be patient as hell and as for my friend, I don't know if he'll be able to give me a lift.

Can someone cheer me up a bit plz? Oh and in case any of you were wondering it's a 1992 1.8 sierra (CVH engine) with 6 months MOT for £150 quid :) I've been working away alot recently so I decided to treat myself.

Doesn't your current insurance cover you to drive the other car, as surely it still belongs to the seller until the DVLA are told otherwise?

Re: royal mail...

99% of bike policies seem to have that clause but all the insurers I've ever spoken to, only have that if you're over 25...

Turns out to postman has already been today - we've had nowt... So I've wasted a complete day ****ing around with this stuff while I could have been in the office, oh and I've wasted my friend's and my sellers time. ****s. ****ing *****s

And I've been on hold for 13 mins with directline

If the car is still insured by the other guy ask him to tax it for you with the current cert?

aye, rang him and asked him about this when he said "If you'd asked me to do that before hand then I could have done it but I've not got time now".

so I told him I'll give him a ring and pick it up sometime next week when I've got time.

It was supposed to be easy but I've just wasted 6 hours of mine and my friend's time. **** it

LOL its for my kitcar. Enginge, gearbox, differential, brakes, steering column and lots of other bits all go onto a spaceframe chassis. The aim of the game is to try and blag your donor to keep the build cost right down, but I've been having no luck so decided to buy one with some mot left, so I can get it on the road and feel how it drives/suss what'll need doing. Because the components are completely removed from the donor you can take everything to bits and renew/re-con as neccessary :)
