AA or RAC info I found. at renewal

due renewal.

Not got breakdown with my Insurance.

My RAC last year was £140 for me in any vehicle or bike roadside- relay and homestart.

They would have just renewed it at £140 if I had not cancelled the DD.

however go on the webiste as "brand new customers only" and it comes out at £108 !.. bargain.

RAC will come to you after an accident..

AA will NOT - they will come and see if they can get your bike going- (or car) but will not take you onwards or home?

I called them both and asked the direct question..

dems da rules anyway- whether circumstances would change them on the day remains to be seen.. but a risky strategy

AA was £108 for the year..

I stickin with RAC I think.. insurance with recovery included would be good but that would only be for my bike I like to have one cover for all rather than 2 seperate covers via insurance for bike and car individually.

hopefully it may be of some assistance to anyone in the same position..

main thing is- DONT let your membership auto renew!! ... re apply. tis cheaper. UPDATE.... READ ON.. MY SECOND POST.. IT APPEARS NOW IT ISNT.. .. ??

Interesting! On 2 occasions that i have had accidents the AA picked me up and realyed me home.

Verna always calls them when the renewal comes througjh and complains about the cost, and every year so far she gets a reduction in membership cost. Always worth a call and whinge.

suppose it depends on the AA man eh.. and if you nice.. surprised they took you then Viney ! ha

Ok update..

me just called RAc again to check.. the man this time was a bit older and seemed to understand the system more-

he says RAC deffo do accident recovery- they also do 5 call outs allowed a year instead of 4... He could not comment on the AA situation too proffessional..

however. when I mentioned again the renewal/new customer thing- he said if you re aplly on line before 128 days after your expiry then it will recognise you as a member and default to the £140 !!... I was not happy. I said where is the loyalty bonus!.. he sorta agreed but was a company man so would not offer me anything-

I want RAc cos of the accident assurance AND the fact they are Bike dedicated more than the AA and have trailers and flat beds and trained Bike mechanics etc.. they seem more aware of bikes. BUT I be damned if I payin the extra for the privelige..

I feel a letter coming on and will let you know the outcome.. I have til March 20th for renewal.! I am sure customer services would discount me if I ranted and raved enough ( hereafter refered to in my house as "doing a Verna")

NB- I am not affiliated with the RAC /AA in any way-- other breakdown services are available.. :D

ive gone with
http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/index.htm
37 quid for me in any car. pickup and drop off anywhere in the country. The catch is you pay for the repairs/lift home your self (whack it on the cc) then claim it back from them (10 days) Ok so its a bit of a faff but its cheap as chips and the people on moneysavingexpert.com all says its quite good.

I got roadside and puncture repair as a freebie with my insurance through Carole Nash...and have recovery etc through AA if I need it which is free with my bank account.

Check with your bank accounts as i know a lot of these do give you cover.

I am with llyods TSB with a platinum account and i get free cover by the AA. The top package i think they give you.

Worth checking with your bank. :p
