GTA IV - The Lost and the Damned

Anyone DLed this yet? This is an expansion to GTA IV, focusing on motorbike gangs and features new motorbikes and improved bike physics. Extra music (primarily rock/metal) too. I very nearly got it this morning, but resisted the temptation as I have some things I have to do this week and know if I get it, I'll play it non-stop. :)

After bike gangs cropping up a few times during the previous GTA games, I'd wondered when they were going to do a game where you played as a member of a bike gang. Looks like it'll be excellent from the trailers.

I never got round to actually finishing the game so I'm probably not going to bother to be honest. Looks good though.

Do they only use the Freeway bikes on it? If the gangs were based around the NRG900 then i'd want to get it, but i'm not a fan of cruisers.

i've done about 5 missions on gta4... the rest of the time has been spent on multiplayer razzing around killing everyone else. If there's more sportsbikes I might be interested, but the cruises are plain pants

Oh no! :D There are a raft of new choppers, but there are also some sportsbikes that are very clearly modelled on real bikes, even down to matching some of the real world paint jobs. There's a Blackbird rip off (in the context it should be a 'Busa, but it looks more like a BB to me, particularly when in black), an R1 in Black and also what appears to be a Ducati 848.

In terms of the story it's not all traditional 1%ers on choppers either; as well as the gangs clearly based on the Angels/Outlaws they've written in the modern black motorcycle gangs who are into drag racing and Jap sportsbikes. In normal GTAIV I think the choppers are weak, but in this they work quite well; you can ride in a pack with other members of your club (and the slower speeds make it easier to ride in formation). Talking of riding with the club, moreso than any other GTA game in the past, you feel like you're part of a gang (and individuals at that, rather than identikit bots): More missions involve working with your gang, your "home" is the clubhouse and you can ring up other members of the gang to get guns/bikes delivered to your location. Beats riding halfway across the city to get the bike/gun you want.

1600 points is £13.60. Not a lot considering all the new content IMO, it's almost like a new game set in the same city: think more along the lines of Vice City Stories in relation to the original Vice City, rather than what you'd normally get in an expansion pack. Even if you're only into multiplayer it's worth getting, some great new modes based around motorbikes.

I've not completed the single player in GTAIV yet, but can see myself playing the story mode in this a lot more.

I need a new HDD before I can download it... But once I have that I see it as a reasonable price. From what I understand there are also new multiplayer options in the pack (Can anyone confirm that?)

Also, does anyone know if the points brought in the UK will work in Europe - the game is 30% more over here due to the current exchange rate...

Yes, there are several new multiplayer modes. These include:
Chopper Vs Chopper: One player is on a bike (despite the name, this can instead be a sportsbike/scrambler if you like), the other in a helicopter gunship. The biker must survive as long as possible, whereas the chopper pilot must kill them. Reminds me of the Top Gear Elise vs Apache. :D

Lone Wolf: All players are on bikes, one player is the lone wolf and must escape. All other players are out to get them. Whoever kills the lone wolf becomes the lone wolf. Whoever spends most time as the lone wolf wins.

Witness Protection: One team are N.O.O.S.E., the other a bike gang. N.O.O.S.E. must safely transport wintnesses to the safe destination, whilst the bikers must try to kill the witnesses.

You can also make a bike gang via xbox live party and play against other gangs. Anyone fancy joining an SV650.org one? :)

More details in the first of the three links in my last post.

No idea re: the points. LMK if you discover they do as me and a friend want to club together and buy a mate in Holland a Gold live membership for his birthday.
