would you hand it in?
i left my new camera in a layby when i stopped to take a photo, at 11am sunday, i did not relise untill 3pm, but by the time i got there it was gone. i tried the local police station the day after, but he said its a bit early, try later in the week.
the layby is mostly used by cars/bikes, and dog walkers, i dont think many "chavs" would use it. so.......... what would you do if you found a camera in great condition? the poll is not public so you can be as honest as you want any ideas of what else i can do? (except save for a new one) |
Re: would you hand it in?
what layby was it ?? if it was a rural area, you might be lucky.. if it was close to a town/city, i wouldn't hold out much hope.. Try the main station in the area rather than a local one. If it was someone like yourself just passing through, they may take it there rather than looking for a local one..

take loads of rude photos and leave it where I found it.......

Re: would you hand it in?
i have found phones in the past, returned them.
however a camera? unless there was details on it or what looks like precious piccies, i would claim it! |
Re: would you hand it in?
get the local newspaper to where it was, you may be lucky that somebody who found it will advertize it as found.

Would hate to think someone has lost irreplaceable photos, I'd hand it in. Besides if its not claimed it becomes yours anyway.
Sadly, most people would have it away. |

I'd cut my losses and just start saving. The time and effort spent trying to find a lost cause will only make it worse methinks.. Poor Hovey' :( |
Re: would you hand it in?
It depends really.
If it was a decent camera & I had wanted a new camera then I'd probably have it in all honesty. If I wasn't bothered about having a camera, or I had one that was better than the one I'd just found, then I'd be tempted to still take it. But I'd leave a note pinned down by a rock or something. The most appropriate thing I could think of would be to write down an email address I can be contacted on, but the address can be changed with ease. I'd leave as little detail as possible as to what I'd found, so that if the owner contacted me, it'd be up to them to prove what I'd found. Do that, and I'd consider them to be telling the truth, so they can have the camera back. If it wasn't claimed within a given time, it'd probably end up on ebay, whenever I could be bothered putting it on there. |
