Eye test, gone all techy

Well it has been about 6 years since I last had my eyes done by the optician who has a room at the medical centre at work. This time I went to boots.

My god, it is techy. Spraying air into my eyes, counting green leds I can see in a single flash, photos of my eyes,

then gone is the chart to read, it is computer projected.

she says can you read the top line, smug git says do you want me to tell you the bottom, so she flicks a new one up and says now can you read the top line.

So much for 2 for one etc. By the time she has added coatings, insurance etc you end up paying twice the cheapest anyway.

So got two new pairs of bins ordered. The ones for under the helmet I have gone for a 15% light through. After all I am a fair weather rider, I can always use the other fancier pair if I need to ride in the dark as they have the anti glare filter.

Still nice to know my eyesight has not got any dodgier over 6 years

didn't you get to look at pictures of hot air balloons?
I hate the puff of air test, it makes me very angry. My left eye knows its coming and screws up!

I got 2 pairs for price of 1, just as well cos I lost my main pair somewhere in the Serengeti! I like to think a baboon might have made good use of them.

I've often wondered whether the anti-glare filter was worth it. Does it make a big difference to motorcycling? I do tend to see a few reflections at night.

Lucky. My eyes are now deteriorating at a steady rate (optician said this like it was a good thing) i can read a few lines with my good eye but can't read the big feck off letter with my bad eye. :(

I went to Tesco foa free eye test and got two for the price of one on frames.

Me old age is making my eyes play up but hopefully new prescription will help.

Pah - think yourselves lucky.....

I had a trip to the Diabetic Eye Clinic the other week

1st they make you do the "read this chart" thing while covering one eye and looking through a piece of plastic with holes punched in it like a collender

Then the put stingy eyedrops in both eyes and you go sit for 20mins while the drops cause your pupils to dilate.

Then they get you to put your chin in a chin-rest and your forehead against a bar and using INCREDIBLY bright flash-tech, straight into your already dilated pupils they take digital pics of the backs of your eyes - about 3 times each looking in different directions.

Then it takes 4 hours for your eyes to sort themselves out.

Count the green LED's ?

Childsplay ::)

Well the wife payed for the new bins as she is ashamed of my old ones. Apparently glasses are considered a fashion item and not an aid to sight. I only wear them for driving/riding so do not understand this train of thought.

What is scandalous is now I have a prescription I have realised I can get on line specs for a fraction of what she has paid.

It is alright saying two for one, why not halve the price?

then it is all the bolt on extras like scratch resistant as if people would say can I have the ones with the cheaper easily scratched lenses, tints and reactive lenses etc. that are not included in the offer

I went to Sp Sa and wanted to take advantage of the 30% off and they took it off the basic price.I then requested the add ons which were full price--Lesson Learned
Went to another specsavers with my prescription, and asked for the same glasses and add ons got the price then asked for the 30% discount £47 cheaper?????????
but still expensive
I have new Dolce& Cabbana frames from a set of reading glasses I have never worn but they would not fit lenses in them and give me the discount
I think they make the rules up as they go along as every outlet seems different
