Paint on Generator Cover

*if* i *somehow* managed to get yellow road paint on the generator cover of my bike, how could i go about scrapping it off? ;)

Here's the genny cover, just so you have an idea where it is and how much fairing i could damage with paint remover (no pics of the actual paint covered one though)

the paint has dried on as the cover was hot when i er, got the paint on it, whats the best way of getting it off?
should i try and get it off when its still hot after a ride out? should i use paint remover? i dont wanna damage my cover or fairings!
any ideas?

Take your lower fairing panel off and use a paint remover, white spirit or similar.
Or if you don't want to take you fairing off use a cloth thats soaked in white spirit or whatever. Try T-cut if its only a little bit of paint.

Re: Paint on Generator Cover

The generator cover is itself painted, so I wouldn't use white spirit etc.

http://www.softscrub.com/ - buy some of those pads, go for a run on the bike so the engine is warm, use warm-hot water and lots and lots of elbow grease.

It does work, I've had to get the same stuff off the car following a minor detour. It wasn't me driving.

So come on, spill, how'd you manage to get road line paint on the generator cover, and why don't you want to post pics of it? :D

Nail varnish remover & as Baph says, warm it up first.
Best to try a hidden bit to make sure it doesn't affect cover paint.

one possibly may have tried to ride the bike up the pavement outside her house the second time she rode it and stopped after getting the front wheel up and overbalanced as her feet were off the ground and dropped the bike
but it was never proved

White spirit or petrol should be fine. I'd avoid anything stronger though.

Try petrol when it's warm.

Remember when working with petrol or fuel systems it is important to keep a lit cigarette in your mouth at all times. Keeps you on your toes.

It's not paint but a thermoplastic.
How about removing generator cover & putting it in deep freeze for an hour or so. That may shock it into submission.
